Details: Product Description Part of the book was written after legendary 1971 Lions tour when author Ross Reyburn was sports editor of the Hampstead & Highgate Express in London. It contains the Welshman's own vivid account of how he brought his attacking vision of rugby to the highest level, defeating the All Blacks. To his original manuscript Reyburn added an intriguing postscrips putting into perspective what Dawes achieved as the key figure in British rugby's renaissance in the 1970's. In this updated edition, Reyburn adds three outstanding appendix articles by broadcaster and former London Welsh, Wales and Lions flanker John Taylor, the late Evening Standard sports editor JL Manning and former Birmingham Post rugby correspondent Michael Blair vividly highlighing the debt the game ows Dawes. Additional material also details how the views of Dawes and the late Carwyn James could benefit rugby today. About the Author Ross Rayburn is a freelance writer and a lifelong student of rugby history. His journalistic career was spent primarily as a feature writer with The Birmingham Post (1975-2003). His previous publications include Jonah (1982), the official biography of squash legend Jonah Barrington, co-written with Michael Emery, and more recently the Pitkin Guide, The Great Rivals - Oxford versus Cambridge (2010).
